A hardy biennial, Lunaria, known as the money plant, is a favourite in dried flower arrangements. The flowers are purple and white, but the plant is grown mostly for the seed pod which is round, flat, silvery white and paper thin. When dried, the seed pods make an attractive and unique addition to bouquets or dried flowers.

Direct sow seed where plants are to bloom. Since seedlings are hardy, this can be done several weeks before the last frost date. Or start seed indoors 6 weeks before outdoor planting to obtain young transplants.
