This easy-to-grow vegetable is a fast-growing selection of summer squash that produces a bushy plant and straight fruits with a slightly bulbous base. The golden yellow skin is tender and requires no peeling. The fruits are edible raw, sliced into salads or cooked as a side dish.

Choose a sunny location and fertile, well-drained soil. Improve sandy or clay soils with compost. Direct-sow seeds into the garden after frost danger in spring, or start seeds indoors four weeks before outdoor planting to obtain young transplants for earliest yields.
