Sturdy, upright-growing plants produce warm-toned daisy-like flowers all summer and into fall. Long, strong stems make the flowers excellent for cutting. Combine with other sun-loving flowers in the mid to back portion of the garden or use in out-of-the-way areas and sites with poor soil.

Direct-sow the seeds where the plants are to bloom, or start seed indoors 8 weeks before outdoor planting several weeks before the last expected frost date. Choose a sunny location and soil with good drainage. They make good companions for another hardy American native perennials such as purple coneflower and gaillardia.
