A sunny location with a fertile soil with good drainage. Seedlings are hardy so they can be direct-seeded several weeks before the last frost date. Or, start seed indoors 6 - 8 weeks before outdoor planting in order to obtain transplants. Water regularly and harvest within 70 days before the tops begin to turn brown.
