The deeply cut, almost lobed leaves of this loose-leaf variety have frilly edges and make an attractive, tasty addition to salads. Plants are slow to bolt to seed. As they mature quickly, they can be grown later in the spring than most varieties. Grows well in containers. Relatively heat resistant.

Direct-sow seeds where plants are to mature several weeks before the last expected frost date since lettuce likes cool conditions. Alternatively, start seed indoors four weeks before outdoor planting to obtain transplants for an extra early harvest. Choose a sunny site with good drainage. After a spring harvest sow seed again in late summer for a fall harvest.
