This quick-maturing loose-leaf variety produces light green, frilly leaves that are sweet and tender. The flavour is best if timed to mature during cool weather. Direct-sow seeds where plants are to mature several weeks before the last expected frost date. Or, start seed indoors 4 weeks before outdoor planting to obtain transplants for an extra early harvest. Choose a sunny site and good drainage. After spring harvest, sow seed again in late summer for a fall harvest.
