This popular herb is known as cilantro when grown for its distinctively flavoured leaves. It’s called coriander when grown for its aromatic, flavourful seeds. The leaves are used in salads, salsa and numerous Mexican dishes. Seeds are used to flavour pastries, beans, meats and fish dishes.

Choose a sunny location and a fertile, well-drained soil. Direct sow seed several weeks before the last expected spring frost date as the seedlings are hardy and will tolerate mild frosts.
