As a source of both tender greens and brightly coloured, fleshy edible roots, beets are a welcome addition to any garden.
This fine textured cylindrical beet produces extremely tender baby beet slices. The roots are tender and delicious and can be utilized fresh, canned or pickled. Their reddish-green leaves also make good tasting greens. Beets are easy to grow and tolerate a wide range of conditions, but prefer cool weather.

Beets grow best and the colour is the most intense in the cooler temperatures of late spring and early summer. Overwatering or excessive rainfall may lead to excessive leaf growth and pale or small roots. Beets can also be grown in containers.
