Sow seed direct in a sunny spot when the soil reaches 21 degrees celsius, or start indoors 3 weeks before plant out time. Germination occurs between 10-20 days. Young leaves harvested at 20-30 days are mild tasting and tender, perfect for fresh mixed greens salad. Mature seed heads are a favourite target of both native and fall migrating birds.
