Fall Camping
Depending on where you live and your preferred style of camping, you typically get 2-3 months of “good-weather-camping.” Living in the sunny Okanagan, we get to extend our season just a little bit longer into the fall for a few more months of fun in the outdoors. Here’s what you may want to consider if you plan on camping this fall.
The Days Can Get Hot:
Just because it’s fall, it doesn’t mean the sun is done. With high temperatures, it’s important to stay hydrated whether you’re at a provincial campground, or on a multi-day hike along the West Coast Trail. For ease of use and portability, we recommend the Lifestraw Peak Series Compact Gravity Water Filter System. Protecting against 99.99% of Bacteria, including E.coli and salmonella, you can rest assured knowing that your hydration is taken care of. Simply hang it in a tree after filling the leakproof bag with any water source nearby and allow gravity to push the water through the filter and into your preferred cup or bottle.
The Nights Can Get Cold:
When every ounce matters, the Intertia X Frame Sleeping Pad by Klymit is a great choice for summer camping. However, when every degree counts, you’re going to want something with a little more insulation to comfortably keep you off the ground. With an R-value of 5.0, the Insulated Static V Luxe Sleeping Pad by Klymit will keep you warm throughout the night. For those less familiar with “R-value”, this is used to measure a material’s resistance to heat loss. The higher the R-value, the warmer you’ll stay on your pad at night. More “R’s” equals more “ZZZ’s” in cooler weather.
There’s Plenty of Fun to Be Had:
Fall isn’t just the season of staying indoors wearing flannel and drinking a pumpkin spice latte while reading the entire Harry Potter series for the 7th time. Instead, with the proper preparation, you can still have a great time camping, hiking, and loving the great outdoors well into this fall. Take that book with you and the Traverse Hammock by Klymit so you can read in the trees. The air can be a bit cooler in the shade, so cozy up with the Horizon Adventure Blanket for a more comfortable lounging experience.
We hope you have a great time experiencing the outdoors this fall in the way you love. Make the most of it because it only comes around once a year.
